south west SOUR

Margaret Rivers thirst quenching sour.

Once a summer seasonal from our Margaret River Brewery in Western Australia’s South West, but now a year-round favourite. Pale, Wheat and Munich malts build a light body with a hint of sweetness and we partially ferment this with a natural acidifying bacteria in the brewhouse. Ale yeast completes the job in the fermentation tank, adding a little extra fruitiness to boot. Hops from both hemispheres provide a vibrant tropical aroma, but with low bitterness to keep this golden sour light and refreshing.

So what is an Australian IPA? It’s a full-bodied IPA tailor-made for Australia. We start with 100 per cent Australian hops picked to deliver a gentle rush of tropical fruit and subtle pine notes, hinting at sunshine and surf and the salt-sweet scent of summer. Next, we use Australian-made malt to cut through the bitterness and deliver an instant Aussie classic that’s big, bold and beaut. Colonial’s Australian IPA is the perfect beer for every Aussie summer. And winter. And autumn. And spring.

hazy pale ale

Hazy, Smooth, Aromatic.

A modern Hazy Pale brewed to be juicy, refreshing and extremely drinkable. A mix of wheat and oats create a hazed appearance and smooth mouthfeel but with a low bitterness that gives prominence to the big hop flavours. The all-American hop profile is an explosion of juicy tropical fruits and fresh citrus – like apricot, orange and grapefruit. Fermented with a Verdant Ale Yeast to complement the big hop flavours and provide more fruit than a typical Americn yeast strain. The end result is everything you want from a hazed-out pale – an aromatic, hoppy, hazy, golden nectar-like treat that is teeming with sweet juicy flavours. Best enjoyed fresh and cold.

Make it a Bertie with your Bestie.

Bertie. Weird name for a cider, right? But when you’re walking in the footsteps of an Australian icon, you’ve got to embrace it. The home of our cold press cider is in Bertie Street Melbourne, in the very same building that once produced that staple of showbags across Australia, the Bertie Beetle chocolate treat. Those are some tiny shoes to fill. But our Bertie does it with ease. It’s why we use only Victorian apples, which are hand-picked and cold-pressed to create a crisp, delicious cider that’s big on taste. And it’s why we use the same apples we eat at home, like Red Galas and Sundowners. There’s no added sugar because true apple cider shouldn’t taste like apple cordial with booze and bubbles.
